Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow – The Evolving Trends in Dimensioning Technology
A thorough look at dimensioning technology in the past, present and future. The participant will come away with a good understanding of what is available today and the technological advances you can expect moving forward. The presentation will include lecture as well as multi-media and live demonstrations of advanced dimensioning technology.
Michael Eichenberg is the CEO / Founder of FreightSnap LLC, a Kansas City based company that supplies freight dimensioning solutions to the logistics industry. Prior to FreightSnap, he was CEO of three other successful startup ventures in the computer software and engineering space. During his practice in the field of mathematics, Eichenberg was awarded two patents for work performed in advanced vision technologies and financial derivatives modeling. He is the author of nine books, both fiction and non-fiction, dealing with a wide range of subjects in the fields of business, stock market investing, politics and general life lessons. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics from Northwest Missouri State University as well as advanced degrees in Economics and Business Administration.

The ISWM 2020 Conference and Expo will be here before you know it, and now is the time for everyone to start thinking about candidates for each of the 2020 Conference awards.
WOODY WOODLAND MEMORIAL AWARD
Purpose: The award is intended to honor a person who, by his/her own efforts and services, has contributed in an outstanding manner in the scale and weighing industry.
Selection Committee and Nominations: The selection committee is composed of all past Presidents of the NSMA/ISWM, with the person who preceded the immediate past President in office serving as the Chairperson. The committee meets during the Society Conference at a time and date scheduled by the conference committee.
Eligibility Requirements: In submitting nominations, the Divisions are asked to provide complete biographical information and supporting evidence of the nominee’s contributions to the weighing industry. The Division must be able to convince the selection committee, through its nomination presentation, that its candidate is truly deserving to be recognized as the outstanding person of his time in the weighing industry. Nominations must be limited to two (2) typewritten pages. Nominations may be sent to the ISWM by email (Karen@iswm.org), fax (866-285-3512) or mail. Nominations must be received no later than February 7, 2020.
The award may be given posthumously and the committee reserves the right not to select a winner in a given year, if in the committee’s judgment no nominee is deserving of this recognition.
MARK PICKELL AWARD
Purpose: The Mark Pickell award was created to recognize and honor that member whose outstanding activities and efforts during the preceding year or years has contributed greatly to strengthening the effectiveness, benefits and growth of his/her local Division of ISWM.
How to Nominate: Each Division is asked to submit its nomination to the headquarters office in writing no later than thirty (30) days prior to the Society Conference. Nominations should be limited to two type-written pages and should include supporting evidence and background and biographical material on the candidate. Keeping in mind that the members of the Selection Committee may never have had the opportunity to meet the nominee, it is up to the Division to introduce its candidate to the committee and to point out all of the reasons the candidate is the Division’s choice for the award. Nominations must be received no later than January 24, 2020.
Eligibility Requirements: The candidate must be a member in good standing of the Division placing the nomination for at least one year. The candidate must be active in his/her Division affairs during the year in which nominated, regularly attending meetings and helping when asked. The winner need not be in attendance at the conference to receive the award.
LADY OF THE YEAR AWARD
Purpose: To encourage active participation in the Society on the part of wives of members and the women in the industry; and to recognize their valuable contributions to the Society and the industry.
How to Nominate: Each Division may submit at least one nomination for the award, and more than one may be submitted. Nominations should be sent to the ISWM headquarters office no later than thirty (30) days prior to the Society Conference and shall be no more than two pages in length. Nominations shall include pertinent information on the activities and achievements of the candidate in ISWM, in her community, church, and other outside organizations. Nominations must be received no later than January 24, 2020.
Eligibility Requirements: The candidate should be a member in good standing of the ISWM or the wife of a member in good standing. The candidate should be in attendance at the Society Conference and registered as a Guest or Full Registrant. The candidate shall have been active in ISWM Division activities; consideration also will be given for participation in activities of her church, community and other outside organizations.
ISWM OUTSTANDING YOUNG PROFESSIONAL AWARD
Purpose: The purpose of this award is to recognize an ISWM member, 45 years or younger, who has contributed in a meaningful way to the ISWM and the weighing industry.
How to Nominate: Nominations must be made for the award by an ISWM member in good standing. ISWM members wishing to make nominations for the ISWM Outstanding Young Professional Award should present in writing a brief biographical sketch of the nominee, along with a discussion of the person’s contributions to the ISWM and the weighing industry. Presentations should be limited to two (2) pages. Particular attention should be devoted to explaining why the nominee qualifies for the award and to making certain that nominee meets the selection criteria. The award will be based entirely on merit and will not necessarily be presented each year. Nominations should be sent to ISWM Headquarters at least 60 days prior to the start of the ISWM Conference and Expo. Nominations must be received no later than December 20, 2019.
Eligibility Requirements: The candidate must be: under the age of 45; must have worked in some facet of the scale industry or weights and measures for at least five years; must have made an outstanding contribution in one or more of the following fields: the scale industry, weights and measures, ISWM; must be a member in good standing of the ISWM; and must be recommended for the award by an ISWM member in good standing.
