Conference Awards

Nominations Welcome!

The ISWM 2020 Conference and Expo will be here before you know it, and now is the time for everyone to start thinking about candidates for each of the 2020 Conference awards.

WOODY WOODLAND MEMORIAL AWARD

Purpose: The award is intended to honor a person who, by his/her own efforts and services, has contributed in an outstanding manner in the scale and weighing industry.

Selection Committee and Nominations: The selection committee is composed of all past Presidents of the NSMA/ISWM, with the person who preceded the immediate past President in office serving as the Chairperson.  The committee meets during the Society Conference at a time and date scheduled by the conference committee.

Eligibility Requirements: In submitting nominations, the Divisions are asked to provide complete biographical information and supporting evidence of the nominee’s contributions to the weighing industry.  The Division must be able to convince the selection committee, through its nomination presentation, that its candidate is truly deserving to be recognized as the outstanding person of his time in the weighing industry.  Nominations must be limited to two (2) typewritten pages. Nominations may be sent to the ISWM by email (Karen@iswm.org), fax (866-285-3512) or mail.  Nominations must be received no later than February 7, 2020.

The award may be given posthumously and the committee reserves the right not to select a winner in a given year, if in the committee’s judgment no nominee is deserving of this recognition.

MARK PICKELL AWARD

Purpose: The Mark Pickell award was created to recognize and honor that member whose outstanding activities and efforts during the preceding year or years has contributed greatly to strengthening the effectiveness, benefits and growth of his/her local Division of ISWM.

How to Nominate: Each Division is asked to submit its nomination to the headquarters office in writing no later than thirty (30) days prior to the Society Conference.  Nominations should be limited to two type-written pages and should include supporting evidence and background and biographical material on the candidate.  Keeping in mind that the members of the Selection Committee may never have had the opportunity to meet the nominee, it is up to the Division to introduce its candidate to the committee and to point out all of the reasons the candidate is the Division’s choice for the award. Nominations must be received no later than January 24, 2020.

Eligibility Requirements: The candidate must be a member in good standing of the Division placing the nomination for at least one year.  The candidate must be active in his/her Division affairs during the year in which nominated, regularly attending meetings and helping when asked.  The winner need not be in attendance at the conference to receive the award.
